The Resuscitation Academy (RA)
continues to expand its network
and educational reach through its
proven train-the-trainer model,
which equips resuscitation leaders
with practical tools to improve cardiac arrest
survival in their communities. The RA maintains a
robust portfolio of hands-on workshops, webinars,
and online resources focused on implementing
evidence-based resuscitation practices. Over time,
the Academy has built an extensive faculty network
that includes leading experts in both the scientific
and operational aspects of resuscitation. Today, the
RA community includes more than 7,000 individuals
representing over 1,500 resuscitation organizations,
including 911 centers, EMS agencies, and fire
departments from all 50 states and communities
spanning urban, suburban, and rural settings.
In 2025, the RA continued to grow its educational activities and partnerships. Working with its Lighthouse
partners, the Academy hosted 33 events designed to expand the network of resuscitation leaders and
strengthen implementation efforts. These events included a workshop focused on the unique challenges
of responding to cardiac arrest in tribal communities, hosted in partnership with the Confederated Tribes
of Grand Ronde, Oregon and an event focused on improving Law Enforcement involvement in cardiac
arrest response. The Lighthouse program also expanded in two new states, Colorado and California,
further strengthening peer collaboration and shared problem-solving around implementation strategies
and quality improvement.
The Resuscitation Academy partnered with the CARES PRIME team to pilot a scholarship program in
Colorado, powered by the American Heart Association, a PRIME team member. This initiative expanded
outreach to rural communities across the state. The Resuscitation Academy also collaborated closely with
CARES Regional Coordinators to engage new
communities that participate in CARES.
The RA invested in curriculum development,
updating key educational resources including
toolkits and instructional videos to reflect
current science and operational best practices.
Throughout the year, the Academy hosted
webinars covering topics such as scientific
updates and approaches to building effective
quality improvement programs for cardiac arrest
systems of care.
Looking ahead, the RA plans to continue
expanding its national reach through additional
events across the United States. Upcoming
priorities include developing enhanced
instructor resources for High Performance
Telecommunicator CPR, Law Enforcement
Defibrillation programs, and pediatric cardiac
arrest, further strengthening the ability of local
leaders to implement high-impact resuscitation
strategies in their communities.
