Publicly Facing Maps
Our NextGen CARES platform will allow participating states to opt in to sharing
aggregated cardiac arrest data through publicly accessible national maps.
These tools will display state, county, and census-tract level data, helping
communities visualize where cardiac arrest events occur and where gaps in
response may exist. By making these data more transparent and accessible,
we aim to empower public health leaders, policymakers, and local agencies to
better target interventions and resources.
We are focusing on why survival varies across the country. By addressing variability in outcomes
related to the timeliness and quality of treatment at the local and regional levels, we can ensure
every patient has the best possible chance of survival, regardless of their location.
High survival rates are a direct result of routine measurement and benchmarking. Whether it is a
dispatcher-assisted CPR program in a rural town or a high-performance CPR initiative in a major city,
the examples of success across our network prove that saving more lives is possible when we lead
with data.
Thank you for your continued commitment to our shared mission. Today, many Americans are alive
because their communities participate in CARES. Together, we are rewriting the story of cardiac
arrest survival—one community, one state, one nation, and one survivor at a time.
Enhancing Survival – Think Nationally, Act Locally
CARES PRIME
CARES PRIME is a multi-organization initiative focused on translating registry
insights into real-world improvements in resuscitation care. Through
partnerships with national organizations, training programs, and community
leaders, PRIME will help transform CARES data into actionable programs that
improve CPR training, strengthen EMS and hospital practices, and expand
the reach of evidence-based resuscitation strategies nationwide.
Hospital Data Acquisition Modernization
Building on our NextGen platform, CARES is advancing a modernization effort
to improve how hospital outcomes are captured and linked to EMS records.
By leveraging secure local AI-enabled tools and improved data workflows,
we aim to reduce the reporting burden on hospitals while increasing the
completeness and accuracy of outcome data. These innovations will allow
CARES to more efficiently connect prehospital and hospital information,
strengthening the registry’s ability to measure survival and guide quality
improvement.
